Best Friends Animal Society — A relief fund has been set-up to help rescue pets that are lost and stranded in areas stricken by Hurricane Katrina. www.bestfriends.org

Habitat for Horses/Lone Star Equine Rescue — Seeking donations for rescue of horses, mules and donkeys in Lousiana. Monetary donations can be made online or mailed to Habitat for Horses/Lone Star Equine Rescue, P.O. Box 213, Hitchcock, TX 77563. Hay, feed, bandages, antiseptic, trailers, temporary equine fencing, tarps, buckets, new lead ropes and halters can be dropped off at the Travis County Exposition Center, 9311 Decker Lane, from 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends.
