Facebookers, Hear Me Now!

In general, I'm not paranoid about my government spying on me. Go ahead and track me, motherfuckers, I tend to think--much good it will do you. If I end up going to Cuba this year, I WANT a passport stamp, damn it. I am, however, one of those people who is sick to death of advertising and branding and sponsored everything, and now my sacrosanct spam-free email is suddenly collecting spam, and it started doing so after I joined Facebook. (LIZ! This is your fault! I joined because you said you wanted Facebook friends! LIIIIZZZZZ! shaking fist skyward)

Facebook uses this: The Beacon online ad system--intrusive and evil!

Fortunately, I use the Firefox browser, and people who use Firefox can block Beacon (and a lot more besides). Read the whole thing, or, if you just want to know how to block the hungry hungry corporate hippos, scroll about halfway down.

When I get home from work today, you'd better believe I'll be blocking the fuck out of Beacon and sending those Facebook people a strongly worded email. Why I oughta . . .

hiding check from Beacon

I HAD NO IDEA! After all, I use Firefox exclusively myself. FIREFOX, it's the only way to travel.
